FYI: In fact I can't put the standard button bar and the infobar where 
I'd normally have them, either. I normally have them alongside each 
other along the top to minimise the space taken up by bars around the 
drawing. If I do that on LX the layout doesn't "stick" - the bars move  
as I change tools because the infobar keep changing size.

(On Xtreme the infobar is the same size for all tools, helping to 
guarantee bars stay where you put them but allwing controls to fall 
outside the frame if you position it badly.)
