Re: [XaraXtreme-dev] Move from CDraw to AGG

2007/2/28, Arlen Albert <arlen.albert@xxxxxxxxx>:
Hello all.

Cairo is a good choice to replace the CDraw XaraLX default graphical engine.
But why none of you want to consider the alternative excellent

It has been considered. I'm waiting for Sourceforge to add a new
project that will aim to create the cairo port. The first step is to
create something usable, and some infrastructure(documentation and
profiling) to modularize-understand it. I think cairo is the best
option here.

This is the hard part, for someone outside Xara headquarters. If it's
is accomplished, it could be use for creating new backends.

graphical engine written in C++ and available for any possible
platforms under GPL since the version 2.5 - AGG (stands for Anti-Grain
Geometry). Recently, I've asked Xara dev team at the forum to do the
comparisons between CDraw and AGG but the request was silently
ignored.

I might recall Maxim Shemanarev doing this in terms of quality of the
engine.Of course AGG was better in his tests.

I'm sure, most of you already knows the library I'm talking about. For
those who doesn't I give the URL: http://www.antigrain.com

I suggest to discus the possibility to use AGG instead of Cairo for
the CDraw replacement.

First we need to make a CDraw replacement a reality.
